Wow this is an awsome camera for the price. I got this for my wife and she loves it, our Christmas pictures turned out great. Would recommend for the novice to amature. Only thing I havn’t tried is the HD video. Very pleased with the purchase.

This camera needs higher frame rate 1080 video

5 shot exposure compensation instead of just 3

Smaller RAW obtions

5 Stars Great high end camera for the amature
I am now just returning to the SLR type of camera after many years of using a simpler point and shoot type. My current point and shoot camera was a Canon, so I began my investigation with the Canon line of dSLR cameras. My first effort was to go by the local “brick and mortar” stores to get some “hands on” feel. After looking at a variety of other cameras, it soon became evident that the T1i was the camera that would best fit my needs as a very active amateur photographer. The factors that caused me to choose this camera: very good feel in my hand; easy to see and to use controls; a very large 15.1 MP picture size; 3.5 fps speed which fit nicely into the type of pictures I wanted to take; a good price point to reenter the SLR arena; Canon’s reputation in the dSLR field; my experience with former Canon cameras as well as with a currently owned Canon HD movie camera; the availability of a large variety of Canon lenses as well as their prices. In the 30 days that I have owned this camera, I have taken over 1,200 shots. The camera has lived up to all of the expectations that I have come to expect from Canon cameras and look forward to using this camera for many years to come.

5 Stars First DSLR
The Canon Rebel T1i is my first DSLR and it’s a good beginners DSLR. It consists of a little bit of everything. ISO isn’t the best but enough to shoot in low light. [it does get noisy anything higher than ISO 800] The interface is easy to get used to. The price was unbeatable at the time I bought it!

4 Stars First DSLR
I’ve always loved photography and wanted an SLR for 15+ years. When the digitals came out, I knew I needed one but the quality was nowhere near film. After about 10 years of the digitals being out, the quality/price ratio has finally become acceptable to me. I started looking and was set to buy the XSi. Right when I was about to buy the XSi, the T1i with HD VIDEO and a host of other features was announced. I held off again until the price on the T1i was to where I wanted it.

I love this camera. The PQ is amazing and I can get so many new and dramatic shots with the versatility. I’ve joined an online Canon Photography forum and received a ton of help and inspiration. The automatic modes work but why would you buy an SLR and use the auto-modes? The only problem with the camera is I’m going to have to blow a ton of money on lenses. :P Oh well.

5 Stars Favorite lens in my kit
I use this lens the most out of all my lenses. Ironic that it is also the cheapest lens. I have a nikon d-50 witch lets this lens have the auto-focus work great with it most of the time. It has a bit of trouble auto-foucusing in low light, but is great most of the time. For the price this lens cant be beat and should be in every photographers kit.

5 Stars Great Lens for a Beginner!
In September 2009, I bought a Nikon D3000, my first SLR. I am an avid amateur photographer, and was incredibly excited about my new purchase. My best friend is a great photographer and bought me this lens, telling me that the lenses that came with the camera were junk.

Well, I’m pleased with the lenses that came with the camera, but they don’t hold a candle to this one. I’m consistently impressed with the stunning pictures that I get with this lens. I’ve used it for just about everything I’ve taken pictures of, along with the automatic lens that came with the package. When comparing the same pictures from the two different lenses, this one wins every time.

I’m still learning to get it in focus every time I use it, and I’m not great with action shots with it yet, but it’s a great lens for a new SLR user.

4 Stars Love it!!!
Great lens for the price. I do alot of indoor pictures. Minus a star for no AF with my D60, but that was due to my failure to research the compatibility with my camera. The AF function does, however, work great on my dad’s D3000. I am partial to Nikon products, though.

5 Stars Dyno-mite!
This little lens is great! I received it as a gift for Christmas for my Nikon D90. It is wonderful for portraits and low light. It focuses wonderfully. Couldn’t be happier.

5 Stars Get what you pay for? No, you get MUCH MUCH MORE!
I’ve been eyeballing this lens for months now, and I got it for Christmas four days ago. My first impression of this lens when I took it out of the box was, “Wow, this thing is tiny!” Short and simple: you get a lot of bang for your buck with this lens.

As just about anyone who has ever reviewed this lens will tell you, yes, it is a little “soft” at f/1.8, but I’ve found that this is very flattering for portraits. You stop it back to even f/2.8 and any complaints will be gone with the wind while still providing you with a razor-thin DOF.

My biggest concern with this lens before receiving it was the little aperture ring. I wasn’t around back in the day of manually setting f-stops, so I was concerned that I would have to manually adjust it. This was not the case, however. It comes set to f/22, and your camera will stop it down at the turn of a forefinger dial just as it will any other lens.

Short and simple: Buy it, you won’t regret it.

Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Bringing a new level of versatility and capability to flash photography, the Speedlite 430EX II features a powerful flash (guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100) with a fast recycling time in a compact, durable body. A one-touch quick-lock mechanism makes it easy to attach or detach the 430EX II from the camera and a metal foot has been added for strength and durability. Flash controls can now be set through the camera’s LCD screen on compatible EOS Digital SLR cameras. The Speedlite 430EX II is also quieter, recycle time is 20 percent faster (as compared to the 430EX) and since it is compatible with Canon’s wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable “slave unit.”

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Very good
perfect, with this account that I do not need more power. The only bad thing is you need a separate cable to use it divested from the camera ..

5 Stars Awesome buy
Overall, this is one awesome flash. Too bad it can’t act as a master flash unit but otherwise, it’s a solid flash unit. Recycling time is fast and absolutely silent and this thing can provide some nice exposure. It also works seamlessly with the EOS cameras which is really nice. It made my indoor shoots a lot more enjoyable.

5 Stars Canon 430 EX ii
Excellent product. Amazingly fast, super compact and very easy to use. One small downside is the buttons are allitle small for medium/large fingers to press.

5 Stars A little more affordable than the 580EX II
I love this flash! THe manual settings allow me to use it as fill flash during the day and give the model a sparkle to their eye. I don’t use it wirelessly but there are some products on the market that allow you to. This flash is very powerful and fits the needs of a hobbyist amateur photographer.

5 Stars flashy and practical
I have only just begun to use this flash, but found it useful right out of the box. While I’m still learning about lighting, the automatic TTL with this is a boon, but it’s also great to be able to make adjustments to the automatic settings to compensate for moments I want more or less light.

I love the way the head swivels in many directions, which means I can bounce it off ceilings or walls or whatever. I also got the stofen omni bounce, which is a very nice addition for not a lot of money, and it has gotten some use indoors with family pictures.

I can’t compare this to off-brand TTL flashes, but I can say I like this flash and highly recommend it.
