Canon 200DG Digital Camera Gadget Bag Black

If you love your digital SLR cameras and lenses, then make sure to add the Canon 200DG digital camera gadget bag to your list. In addition to its attractive styling, this camera bag is specifically designed with SLR cameras in mind. It’s built with special compartments intended to hold up to two SLR camera bodies, three lenses, and a host of accessories. Canon has also included several padded easy-access side storage pockets so you can get at an extra memory card or lens cloth in a snap. The durable, water-repellent nylon exterior and weather-flap lid help keep the elements out, while the double-clasp closures keep your cameras safe and secure inside the bag.

5 Stars Great for Bringing the Kitchen Sink (well, everything but…)
I bought this to have a way to bring a lot of equipment to family gatherings and a place to keep it all organized at home as well. I have been very pleased with both the construction / quality and look of the bag. Here is what I am carrying:

Rebel XSI

24-70 f/2.8 L

70-200 f/2.8 IS L (including its support ring / tripod mount)

Speedlite 430 EX

Mini-tripod

Sony HD camcorder

Sigma 28-300

Canon Elph SD750 (backup camera)

Charger for XSI battery

Charger for camcorder

Charger for Canon SD 750 battery

Charger for AA batteries (for flash)

Supersize ziplock to put bag in if unexpected downpour

Of all the above, the 70-200 L is the largest beast. I configured the compartment dividers so that there is a large open area which is closest to you when you open the bag with 3 vertical compartments above. I put the camcorder in the leftmost one above and the Sigma in the right. I can then put the XSI in either attached to the 70-200 (there is room to the left of the lens) or the 24-70 by putting the lens in the middle slot with camera attached (the top of the bag still closes easily). I hope this makes sense and include this description mainly since I was very interested in whether there is a way to configure the bag to do this.

Overall, I am very pleased with the bag as it serves its purpose well and is well made.

4 Stars Good Value, Sturdy Bag
Very good for the price of under $50. I have EOS 7D with one zoom lens, one fisheye, and one 50mm prime. They all fit very nicely now, but need to adjust a little if i get an external flash. Velcro on two sides of the flap are almost useless when the bag is heavy. Zipper would’ve been a lot better. Need to open the top flap in order to get to front accessory compartment, which is a little annoying. Once I add more lenses and save some $, I will probably buy a different bag, but for the price, can’t ask for more.

3 Stars Canon 200DG Camera Bag
Bag well made, Solidly constructed Front retentive clasps reliable Adequate room inside for camera,2 additional lenses, and flash. Sufficiently cushioned Side pockets roomy for extra smaller items however zipper design on pockets allows for items to spill out rather than be retained when opened. zippers [2 per pocket]should be positioned at top of pocket and opened partially to one side or the other to prevent loss of contents. Bag was priced fairly

5 Stars I am Pleased With This Huge and Sturdy Camera Bag
Even though I own a Nikon D5000 DSLR, I still ended up buying the Canon 200DG instead of a bag made by Nikon. I am very happy with this bag, and would recommend it to other DSLR owners. First, let me list good reasons to get this bag:

1. It is huge, at least for my needs as a non-professional. It holds my DSLR with 18-55 mm lens attached, my 55-200 mm lens, a lens hood, lens cleaner, lens cleaning paper, the D5000 instruction manual, two filters, battery charger, battery charger cord, SD card case, and other cables that came with the camera. In fact everything that came with my camera kit (minus the DVDs) easily fits in this bag. And even with all of these items in the bag, there is still room for plenty more (including another lens). My brother bought a Nikon DSLR camera bag, and even though it is slightly cheaper, the 200DG has more space.

2. It is secure and sturdy. It is padded and thick all around, and so sturdy that it looks like it could shield the camera from damage if dropped from a reasonable distance (not that I am going to purposely test this hypothesis any time soon). The straps are strong, and it can be carried either by the handles or using the shoulder strap. Even though the top of the bag is secured by Velcro instead of a zipper, I have been impressed with both the strength and convenience of the Velcro. It stays shut firmly, but easily opens when needed.

3. The price is right. I compared other bags and book-bags for DSLR cameras, and the price of this one was just right for the size. I just don’t believe the much more expensive bags offer that much more space and security for the price. Of course, I say this as a non-professional who does not need a larger bag.

The only major drawback I can think of is that the Canon logo is on the bag. I do not say this because I am a Nikon owner (I think both companies make great cameras), but rather, because it makes the bag a target of thieves, since the Canon logo on a bag this size basically says “expensive camera inside.” However, this is something I can deal with, especially since I keep the shoulder strap securely next to my body at all times when using the bag. Another minor quibble I have is that there is only one zipper on the compartment on the front of the bag. It seems more intuitive to me to have two zippers there, so they can meet in the middle.

Overall, this bag meets my needs, and I would recommend it to others.

4 Stars Canon 200 DG Gadget Bag
Roomy, seems like it has fairly good protection for camera and accessories. I only have one camera and lens at this time but room enough to add additional equipment in the future.

I have only owned this bag for about a month but seems to fit the bill for my use.

5 Stars Great introductory bag (for beginners)
This is a great bag for a hobbyist who doesn’t have a lot of gear to start with. It will grow with you as you aquire more equipment. As a pro photographer I really liked this back for it’s size and functionality. As I have quite a bit of equipment the bag is somewhat uncomfortable on my shoulder. But what should I expect as I keep most of my gear in it. It’s prime market I believe would be outdoor/landscape photographers. People who are often on the move during a photographic trip. It’s size is excellent when packing for and going on long trips. I have enjoyed using this bag. It’s external storage compartments are an excellent addition. I would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a starter/introductory bag. If you have a decent anout of gear spend the extra money and get a Canon pro bag.It may be over-kill at first (depending on how much equipment you have to start with of course) But it will surely grow with you. As most “hard-core” photograhers know there’s always some new “must have” piece of gadgetry we must have lol. [...]

1 Star Garbage
if zero was a choice I would pick that. the bag unzips on its own and my camera and lens crashed to the ground.

5 Stars Very comfortable and fits all my gear
I purchased this one as a replacement for my (very good by the way) Lowe Pro Slingshot 200. I love the Slingshot design and how it works, but with all my gear loaded in, I could not stand for long photo days. After a couple of hours my shoulder and back were asking me for a new backpack :) . This one, although not as easy for loading / unloading lenses, for example, showed to be way more comfortable.

5 Stars Best Camera Bag
This has to be the best camera bag out there (that we could afford anyway) very good product for the money! Do not go spend $100 on another bag. This will hold everything you need plus some! I love it!

5 Stars A must for all traveling photographers!
Very sturdy, handy, and comfortable. I highly recommend this backpack cause it has made traveling alot easier and productive.

5 Stars Great camera bag
Great bag, inside is configurable with the velcro dividers. I can easily fit all my gear in it. Smaller front zippered pouch can fit a book and the other zippered pocket can hold my laptop (14″). It has accessory straps all over but I removed them – you can easily put them back on if needed. I also took a tip from one of the reviewers and sewed the buckle strap across the front for added security, simple needle and thread job. Front lashing is very useful and the overall material of the bag is very sturdy.

3 Stars Not great for heavy use
This bag has a lot of little pockets and straps on it and pretty good capacity inside, but I haven’t found it to be a good quality bag for regular use. After about a year both of the zipper pulls on the main compartment snapped off – like just broke in half. It’s obviously a design flaw – I’ve never had a zipper on anything break this way. I have to use a key ring now to open and close the zipper – not the most convenient. I like that the velcro compartments let you reshape how things fit inside, but with no straps or covers on any of the compartments I find that things slip around inside the bag unless I can make them really snug in the compartment. There are two large zipper compartments inside – would be better if they were divided into several small ones for things like batteries, cables, filters, etc. Like it is they are all just jumbled together in the two big pockets. The backpack straps are well padded and seem sturdy, and the fabric on the outside has remained in good shape for how much I lug it around. It’s not a bad little bag for the money if you don’t have lots of little pieces you carry along or don’t plan on giving it lots of use.

5 Stars Great Camera bag
The Deluxe Canon camera bag is really a great value. It is sturdy and well built. It has lots of space for your camera and lenses. I currently have two camera’s in the bag – it is that big. The interior has adjustable, movable walls so it can configured or re-configured as needed. The material is very durable. I would recommed this bag to anyone looking for a camera bag.

4 Stars Fantastic deal and I could not be happier
I went ahead and read most reviews on this back pack. One thing to realize is if you are looking for a backpack to carry a lot of your gear and protect it this may be for you. If you are looking for a “Pro” or custom back pack you may want to look else where. I looked at several options for back packs and for what I need as a hobbyist and not a professional this really fits perfectly. I read where people are wanting to have very easy access to their equipment while on the go and this is the type of backpack that you will need a little bit of time and area to set the pack down to remove equipment properly and safely. This is what I carry in my bag:

Canon 50d

18-55mm lens

50mm lens

1 flash

Sony hand held video camera

chargers for both cameras

memory cards

odds and ends

I still have room for the 24-70mm I want to pick up.

4 Stars Very nice backpack for a decent price
I own a Canon 30D with three lenses (a 50mm lens, a 70-300 lens, and a 28-75 lens) as well as a few other standard accessories such as an external flash, an extra battery and charger, and a few lens filters and caps. All fit perfectly in this bag and I still have room left in some of the other pockets for our small pocket digital camera, a small camcorder, a few cords and a chip reader. That STILL leaves room for the occasional bottle of water and other snacks you might want to throw in the bag if you only want to carry one bag onto an airplane or into an amusement park. We have two small (under 4) children and I find that this backpack is very light and is easily manageable even while carrying one of them. Now that you can find this bag for $30-35 bucks I highly recommend it for those who want a bag with lots of room but that’s lightweight. The only drawback is that you can’t easily retrieve the camera from the bag while wearing it on your back (the camera sits in the very top of the bag pointing down) – but as an amateur/novice I rarely find myself having a need to grab the camera that quickly anyway. I would also like to see it offered in more color combinations, but the dark green/black combination isn’t that bad.
