5 Stars Tamron Lense
I am a novice photographer. Alot I do not know. I ordered this Tamron lense thru Amazon. When it arrived (timely), it caused my camera (Canon Rebel Xti)to shut down. Would not work. I contacted Tamron and explained the “error msg” I was getting from the camera and after brief conversation w/tech person at Tamron it was determined that the lens was flawed and for me to contact Amazon and explain this and get a replacement lens. Uh-Oh, right? Let me tell you that a call to Amazon was all it took. A new lens was shipped that day express mail (free of charge) with an authorization label to send the faulty lens back in the same box with charges reversed to them. The new Tamron lens arrived and is working beautifully on my camera. Bottom line? This is a fine lens and Amazon (in my opinion) is one great and reliable company that I will use without hesitation.

1 Star Very fuzzy
Disappointed with the lens. Not clear at all and very slow to focus. I returned it immediately.

1 Star Slow focus
I am a professional wedding photographer and I tried this lens on my canon 7D at my daughter’s Halloween party at school. I’m glad I didn’t bring it to a wedding off the bat. The room (as most school rooms are) is well lit from windows and the florescents were on – the lens couldn’t pick up on the dark costumes to grab fast enough. It hunted a lot and I lost some shots. At the widest, there was A LOT of blur around the edges. Not a crisp shot. I returned it today (after receiving it the day before yesterday). I do have another Tamron zoom that is slow to focus, but this one was much slower in lower light – would not have worked at a wedding ceremony (especially a church) nor a reception.

4 Stars Upgraded from stock lense
I bought this lens to upgrade from the lense that came with my Rebel XTI. I used the “old” lens (18-50mm) on a two week trip to Scandinavia last year and did not bring a longer one due to luggage limits. I bought this one for a three week trip around the Canadian Maritimes this fall and it provided much more flexibility in the shots I could take using just one lens. As for improved quality of the photos, I guess its hard to say since I sharpen all of my photos and when framing an image in the view finder, I allow for a little cropping during post-processing in Photoshop. I much prefer it to the original lens for the range of shots I can take while travelling without having to switch out lenses.

1 Star Bad Leans
I don’t recommend this Leans, the one I got it is not sharp and all the pic it takes are soft and not sharp

maybe the one I received is like this but I can write a review for the product I got

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Lens For the Price
I do a lot of photo editing with the pen tool and wanted a lens that had less chromatic aberration than my kit zoom. I am very satisfied with results and the speed. I had initially seen a review of this lens on the Photoshop User website. If you are looking for a prime lens and are on a tight budget this bears looking at. I am shooting with a D80.

5 Stars A must have lens!!!
This lens is a must have. It will instantly make you a better photographer. I’ve used this lens on all holiday events inside the house and all pictures are perfect. It’s great for low light photography, portraits and it also produces a nice bokeh. This lens has always been in my camera ever since I had it. Well worth the money. So far I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

5 Stars As Advertised
Lightweight and fast, this lens works beautifully with my D40. The autofocus is accurate, but the ease of manual override is a nice advantage. If you’re thinking about buying one, you should.

5 Stars Lovely fist full of prime lens
As others have noted, while it’s mostly plastic, it’s got a heft to it that says serious lens. This is my lens of choice whenever I can fit the subject into its field of view. I love the low-light ability and the sharpness of the resulting photos. Hard to beat the price, either.

5 Stars Sharp and fast lens!
I use this lens far more than I thought I would. It is sharp across its entire f-stop spectrum, and very sharp from f/2.0 through f/11. No discernible chromatic aberration. An ideal indoor / low light lens.

Nikon 55 200mm f 4 5 6G ED IF AF S DX VR Vibration Reduction Zoom Nikkor Lens 52mm UV Glass Filter Accessory Kit for D40 D60 D90 D200 D300 D300s D3000 D5000 Digital SLR Cameras

Kit includes:
♦ 1) Nikon 55-200mm f4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens
♦ 2) Vivitar 52mm UV Glass Filter
♦ 3) Precision Design Deluxe 6 Piece Lens & Digital SLR Cleaning Kit
♦ 4) CapKeeper 2 Lens Cap Strap

This 3.6x zoom features Nikon’s VR image stabilization and is perfect for portraits and action. Vibration Reduction reduces the effects of camera shake, allowing hand-held shooting at up to 3 shutter speeds slower than without VR. An ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element minimizes chromatic aberration, and a compact rod-type Silent Wave Motor (SW) enables ultra-high speed auto focusing with exceptional accuracy and super-quiet operation.

This Vivitar UV Filter is a multi-purpose, fine-weather filter that is designed to optimize your photography experience. UV filters block out unwanted ultraviolet light and prevents the UV “fogging/haze” effect”, which can result in inaccurate color and lower the apparent sharpness. This filter is also ideal for protecting your valuable lens from scratches and dust, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. Perfect for digital, video and photo.

Keep your lens cap securely attached to your lens with the convenient, simple-to-use CapKeeper. Never lose a lens cap again!

This 6-piece cleaning kit contains everything you’ll ever need to properly clean your lenses, including a Hurricane Air Blower, Lens Cleaning Tissues, Lens Cloth, Lens Cleaning Liquid, Brush and Cotton Swabs.

5 Stars Awesome!
Product was shipped well and rec’d in excellent condition. It was exactly what I wanted. And the price was good.

5 Stars Nikon 55-200 VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
I just got this as a gift yesterday and I am very pleased with it. The pictures are crisp and clear and the closeups from distant shots are impressive. I would like to test it out more but for now I am impressed with it.

4 Stars Love the lens
I bought this item after reviewing previous ratings and a LOT of research as I was concerned about the budget. Initially my plan was to buy the 70-300 mm Non VR lens. It was within my budget and was thinking 300mm would help me to cover more distance.

But after reading reviews and comparisons I chose 55-200mm VR.

Reasons:

1. VR helps me a lot as I am interested in taking Sunset/Sunrise and do not have a dedicated external flash.

2.100mm doesn’t make big difference. Read a quote by Ansel Adams “Best wide-angle lens? ‘Two steps backward’ and ‘look for the ah-ha’” mentioned in Kenrockwell page.

So thought, for 300mm I need to move forward few steps, ha ha.

3. Have Nikon D40 so wanted a lens which works in AF mode. 70-300mm doesn’t.

So bought in Oct, love this and its awesome. Except the add-ons, they are not very good quality materials. But this deal is cheaper than the lens in other sites.

Thanks for people who wrote the reviews….

BTW, the lens makes some noises while auto focusing and (releasing shutter if VR is on), and its normal.

5 Stars G.K.Babu’s Review
As described Lens quality and price is superb. Item is in excellent condition. Recommended Seller. Thanks.

5 Stars No Brainer Sports Action
I bought this lens based on several recommendations about the quality of the images you can get with it. In particular, the lightness of the lens is a major factor. I recently bought the Nikon D90 I use this lens on and the combination is very easy to hold for long periods and to shoot sports with. All the pictures I took with reasonable light levels were super sharp. I used it to shoot pictures of my grandson playing football and even caught a sequence of shots where I zoomed between shots (1 second apart or so) as he scored almost right in front of me. All the shots at 200mm were excellent after discounting my sometimes poor selection of where to point the lens. The VR clearly was working as I was hand-holding for all my shots,

Canon EF S 55 250mm f 4 0 5 6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Canon EF S 55 250mm f 4 0 5 6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Bring your photographic subjects closer with this Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens. It is designed with Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer technology and is compact and light. This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses). The image stabilizer effect is equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon’s 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second. It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. Filter Size – 58mm Max. Diameter – x Length 2.8 in. x 4.3 in./70 x 108mm (maximum lens length) Weight – 13.8 oz./390g Canon 1 year limited warranty

5 Stars Very impressive lens
I did a lot of research prior to buying this lens. I have a Canon Rebel XSI, and the combination of this camera and the 55mm to 250 mm telephoto lens is excellent. The image quality is very, very good. I purchased it from Quality Photo through Amazon.com and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Great price, fast delivery.

4 Stars Great value.
I received this lens in a package with my T1i. I think it compliments the kit lens (18-55mm) immensely. Now I have everything covered from wide to telephoto. The IS works very well even out to 250mm. I can hand hold most shots @250mm in daylight. Photos of the moon at night are incredible. You can what seems like every detail of every crater. Great value for the money!

5 Stars Good stable lens
I’m still learning what this lens likes and doesn’t like. For example, it does vignette sometimes but I can see that ahead of time and I just back off full telephoto a bit.

If you’re a novice, don’t forget to turn off the IS when using a tripod. And just because there is IS, it doesn’t mean there won’t be hand shake problems at less than 1/250th speed.

Set camera to center focus so that you get what you want in focus. I use Auto focus 98% of the time. The lens is very responsive and you have to be careful to focus on what you really want. Got some nice sharp photos of small, fast birds in flight and some dogs on a dead run.

Color quality seems good for the most part. Occasionally I get something with a bluish tinge but I think that’s the camera rather than the tele since other pics of the same area at the same time were fine.

As one reviewer said somewhere, get to know what the lens will and won’t do.

I’m really pleased with the price and the results. I don’t want to spend $1000 on a lens since this is a hobby not a profession.

5 Stars I love this lens
This is the first lens I used other than the lens that came with my EOS Rebel XS kit and I love it. I bought it for my family trip to Walt Disney World and it performed better than I expected. The auto focus can be a little slow but not that bad to deal with. Picture quality is really good. Over all I am happy with the purchase.

5 Stars Cannon EF-S 55-225mm Lens Review
This lens was a gift for my girlfriend who is an avid, professional photographer. It was an instant hit with her. The picture quality of this lens with the image stabilization was second to none. Also, the ease of use of the lens was excellent. Finally, Cannon is an excellent company with excellent manufacturing. This lens was a good buy and a very good product.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Well worth the money.
I bought this lens as a birthday gift for my wife. We use it with our Canon Digital Rebel XT and it works perfectly. The lens has a very good picture quality and is very easy to attach/remove from the camera. Of course, it comes with lens covers for both ends of the lens and they are very good quality covers; actually, IMO, better than the lens covers that our Canon lens came with. They stay on well and provide great protection for traveling.

The lens has a switch on it to go from normal photography to macro shots. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and ease of use with macro photos with this lens. It is easy to take good quality macro shots with this lens (and trust me, I’m a beginner!).

Overall, I am very well pleased with this lens and think you will be too!

1 Star JUNK!!!
Save yourself the trouble. I purchased this lens to use for some basic shots around the house during the Holidays. First, every photo is very soft in the corners. You need to crop the edges away or darken the outer portions of the photo to be usable. More troubling, the AF motor stopped working after aprox 75 shots. Just stopped working and has only a faint clicking noise. Junk!! Going back after 2 days and 75 shots…

Bought the Nikon 55-200mm AF-S VR today for $50 more and it’s sharper, has better contrast and colors, and since it’s a Nikkor lens, it should make it past 75 photos.

You get what you pay for, get the Nikon…

5 Stars Holy picture taking batman!
Love this lens! I have a Sony DSLR and a Minolta SLR and I love that I can use the lens on both. Picture Quality is great. The lens is heavy, but what do you expect, it’s huge.

2 Stars Nice image quality, Autofocus stops working
Let me start by saying this is a great lens for the money as far as image quality and macro features and most reviews here are accurate. But apparently they didn’t have the disapointing problem I ran into. After only about 3 days of normal use the autofocus failed and would only turn in one direction. I sent it back for an exchange (Amazon did the exchange with no hassle) and the replacement worked fine for a few days of shooting high school football and wildlife. But then lo and behold, the exact same thing happened again! I don’t think it’s the camera (Nikon D40) as my 3 other autofocus lenses work fine, and I checked/ cleaned the contacts. The lens was used gently with no rough impact or banging, it just stopped working while shooting pictures. The lens seems to be clicking and struggling to turn in the other direction and appears to be draining the battery doing it, as the lo battery indicator comes on while trying to focus. Then I read a review on the web that said the motor on the Sigma might be too torquey for the plastic gearing, stripping it. I really like the lens’s image performance and thought about keeping it anyway, but unfortunatley am going to have to just return it, as 160 bucks is a little too much for a manual focus only lens.

4 Stars Sigma lens for Nikon DLSR
I bought this Sigma lens after much consideration. I have used a friend’s Nikon lens and it took beautiful pictures. However, being that I am a recreational picture taker and I shoot mainly my boys sports teams, I opted for a more economical lens. I must say that for my needs and for the money difference, so far, this lens has not disapointed me yet. I have shot amazing football pictures and I am very happy with it’s performance.
