5 Stars Better alternative
This is a better alternative to the kit lens you get with your Nikon, this lens is better built. This lens is more durable, and it can take photos in lower light which makes it faster.

4 Stars Petite, nicely put together, sharp
I bought this lens mainly to go with my little Nikon D60, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it. For the roughly $100 I paid for it, it’s turned out to be quite a good lens. I originally bought this lens because of it’s tiny size. I also own the Nikon 18-55 VR which is a nice lens, but it was just large enough to be extremely difficult to wedge into or pry out of the small case area I have for it, so I thought I would try this lens out. It’s enough smaller than the Nikon lens that it fits about perfectly into the case I wanted to carry it in.

Pros:

- the lens feels better constructed than the Nikon 18-55 VR. It’s not so much that the Nikon 18-55 is horrible(at least in comparison to other similar lenses), but this lens does feel a bit more solid and above average. Does it matter? Not much to me, although the metal bayonet mount is really nice to find in this price range.

- I can’t see any difference in sharpness between this lens and the Nikon 18-55 VR. I’m not saying there isn’t any difference, there might be, but I haven’t been able to see it. This a good thing, since the Nikon 18-55 that this lens supplanted has been a sharp lens. That’s not to imply that this lens is as good as a $1200 pro lens, but in comparison to the other similar lenses I’ve tried, this little Sigma isn’t lacking in the sharpness department.

- it’s tiny. It’s barely larger than most prime normal lenses.

- focusing seems really fast and precise, more so than the Nikon 18-55 that I own.

- inexpensive.

Cons:

- like all inexpensive, small sized lenses, it has a fairly small maximum aperture, f3.5 at 18mm to f5.6 at 50mm. Not a problem for me, and not really a con, it’s a trade-off to get the size down and keep the price reasonable.

- Sadly, no OS. Again, I can live with it the way it is, since VR would make the lens larger, and maybe a little more expensive.

The more I use this little semi-precious gem the more I like it, and the more convinced I am of it’s excellent value.

5 Stars Great Lens, awsome price, fast shipping
If you have never owned a sigma they are every bit as good as a Nikon for all but the most demanding professional photographs. I’m sure the expert photographer can tell the difference but my dad (who teaches photography at a local college) swears they are every bit as good for a fraction of the price

4 Stars Affordable good performance
Right out of the box instructions were easy to follow. Lense quality is fairly good. I thought that for the price I would get something “cheap”; wrong. Very sturdy. Take the time to read the setting instructions and you will get very good/excellent results.

5 Stars Food photographer
I like to take close ups of food and from my use of it so far, it is a great macro lens!

1 Star A total waste of money!!!!!
I bought this battery in November, charged it and put it in my camera bag. A week later (early December) I went to use it, and it showed that the battery needed charging. Strange, I thought, and re-charged it. Same scenario. I never even got to use the thing. It is worthless.

1 Star Simply doesn’t work with my D90
Although it looks and feels not bad, it simply doesn’t work with my D90. So I’m returning it. A little disappointed because the Opteka D90 grip got very good review.

1 Star Would not work in D90
Nikon’s charger would show this battery as fully charged, but my D90 would show it as a dead battery. I have returned this battery and will be buying the OEM from Nikon. Don’t waste your time with this 3rd party battery, go for the OEM. I received this as a gift, and Amazon was amazing in helping me return this item for a refund.

1 Star Opteka EN-EL3E Won’t Work In New Nikon D90
Purchased the Opteka EN-EL3E for my new Nikon D90. Charged it in the Nikon charger and even though the charger shows it charged the D90 shows it is not so battery will not work in D90. Contacted 47st Photo with two emails asking to return for replacement and they do not answer. Save your money and your time and buy a genuine Nikon battery, at least their support people answer you!

1 Star Don’t waste your time
Save yourself some trouble and buy the real Nikon battery. The new EN-EL3e is an improved battery from it’s predecessor. I purchased this Opteka for my D90 and it DID NOT recognize it. If I were you I would not risk it. It was cheap enough for me to try, but not worth the money or RISK of you do try it on your Nikon and something goes wrong so I am returning it to Amazon. From now on, I play no games an only buy Nikon original stuff. Amazon has a very good price on the Nikon branded battery. You pay for what you get, in this case I got nothing though ;-)

3 Stars Not Convinced I Make the Right Choice
I hate to make a review this soon, but after taking holiday pictures, I must say that I am not bowled over with my pictures. I had a Nikkon Coolpix 8mp and absolutely loved it. Thus my choice with this camera for moving up. My pictures are either very bad or great, but not really in between. I’m sure I need to learn more, but it’s not the quick pick up and shoot camera my other one was! I am disappointed for now.

5 Stars Great camera
The Nikon D90 is outstanding. My family can’t believe the pictures that I’m taking since I got the camera. The camera has a lot of bells and whistles. It’s takes a good time learning the camera but it’s worth it. Would recommend this camera for anybody that enjoys a well constructed camera.

4 Stars First time SLR Owner – Light Years better than ANY Point-and-Shoot
I have used DSLRs before but this is the first one I bought and was not at all disappointed.

It is the perfect camera to own as a first time SLR owner if you plan to use it often as it can autofocus with all the old Nikon lenses.

The picture quality is excellent but I recommend trying a wide angle lens such as the Nikkor 10-24mm or the Tokina 11-16mm which will create a whole new experience as you can create art with pictures.

If you consider yourself a semi-serious photographer who considers photos art and don’t mind a lot more weight compared to any Point-and-shoot, the D90 is for you. It takes excellent photos and most importantly is laid out very sensibly and is easy to navigate around the menus, not to mention is very, very very fast compared to a point-and-shoot.

If you just want to take snap shots with your friends and family and shoot on occasional trips you probably want a point-and-shoot or the Nikon D3000 or older entry level models which are smaller, lighter and cheaper while not sacrificing quality very much but slim on more advanced features.

5 Stars Must add a 5 star
The first few reviews sum this camera up pretty well. I love my camera, and I purposely chose this camera over the more expensive D300.

5 Stars Big bow to D90 it really rocks !!

Big bow to D90 it really rocks !! i recently bought Nikon D90 and we had a baby 1 week back and the pic’s experience was really different and amazing. I am not a professional photographer but still dared to put money on this and now i realize it really worth for money. The picture quality and features are brilliant, easy to operate. Do not think twice to buy this product , just go a head !!
