4 Stars Not bad at all…
Bought this to breathe life into an old iPod Mini. The microdrive died and I discovered that a CF card is basically the same thing, just flash memory vs a moving disc. While this card might not be the fastest, it works perfecty as storage media for my iPod Mini. It must be fast enough to handle me flipping through my playlists, because I haven’t encountered any issues with it lagging yet.

3 Stars Good but not for HDSLR
This is a very cheap and good card but not to be used for HDSLR or DSLR. The reason is very simple that this card is too slow. Let me explain this in a simple way the write speed of this card is 133x or 20mb/s (Value of X = 150 Kbps, so 133 times 150kbps) should be good enough for a general use in a DSLR with burst of 3 or 4 fps shooting with no HD video..

I bought it for Canon EOS 7D with 8fps shooting and capable of recording True HD Video at variable frame rates. This card is fine till it is around 3-4 GB full but beyond that the buffer gets filled up and the camera will display “Busy” massage after each shot or Video recording.

If you want to use your card for HDSLR then my suggestion would be to buy at least a card with UDMA capabilities and or 30mb/s+ speed to be on a safer side.

2 Stars Slow! Can’t use it all
This card is fine for normal use, just don’t fill it more than 50% or else it becomes EXTREMELY slow! Sports, kids playing, out of the question. Holidays, portraits, fine art (which I do) should be fine. But really, a better option would be to get a couple 4 or 8 gb cards instead of this one. Cheaper and better reliability and speed. I kind of regret getting this card. Size isn’t everything. Performance is MUCH more important.

Ordered this card because Kingston is usually very reliable. I initially formatted the card and after about 10 photos, received an error saying card is bad, please replace. So I took it out, formatted it again in hopes that it would be fixed. But after taking about 10 more photos the same error occurred. I give it 3 stars only because I probably just got the bad egg from the group. That does happen some times.

5 Stars Kingston 4GB cf memory card
I own 4 of these 4 GB memory cards for 2 of my trail cams. I swap the ones I’ve taken home and saved the wanted images on my computer for the ones that have new data in the cameras. They all have performed well to store images and/or video. My oldest set is about a year old and I’ve recently purchased a newer set.

I’ve used Kingston cards in ALL my dSLR’s going back to 2002 including my older Fuji Finepix S1, S2 Pro and now my newer (Feb 2008) Nikon D300. Though I have much larger capacity cards now in the D300, The S2 pro only uses cards up to 2G so the Kingstons that I’ve used for years are STILL being used. I either use the Finepix S2 as a backup, or my young ‘un uses the camera when we go out shooting together. I have NEVER, ever had a card fail or even hiccup. Basically, the same experience I had with the Transcend Memory cards extends to these. Either I’ve been really lucky, and/or the cards are fabulous, and/or I take care to FORMAT the card in camera after each download. Maybe a combination of all three I don’t know. I do know I own four or five of the 2G Kingstons, and at least two 4Gig CF Kingstons. They are great just about fail proof.

And, in closing I would have to say that my 2 and 4G Kingstons have seen over 100,000 images through them over the course of several years. I trust them to do the job and never, ever have any qualms about popping them in the camera.

On a quick note I purchase my memory cards from various sources, not just Amazon. I shop for value, but I try to stick to the name brands of Kingston, Ridata, Transcend, and now own a couple of Lexar’s. Shop around for the best price, but many times Amazone offers the best with the free ship options when available.

I mainly use a Sandisk Ultra II 4GB CF and it gives me no problems. I’ve had it longer than the Kingston.

The Kingston worked fine for a couple of months. Then it started giving me invalid parameters in Windows XP SP2.

I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who relies on their photos for their paycheck, but its a good bargain for casual shooting.

Perhaps my card was bad. Good luck.

2 Stars Skips and buffers
I bought two to replace my 16GB PQIs which are 120x and rarely buffers. Both replacement 133x 32GB skips and buffers every so often and pauses when I need to review. The straight copy/write speed is good but its between operations that it’s slow. I use a Canon 7D to record mostly in 1080 24fps, its worrying when I see the buffer icon go all the way to max when I’m scrambling to catch an event happening now. For staged shots this is okay. For run-and-gun I’m keeping my PQIs.

4 Stars Holding up well as the system disk for OSX
I used this 8G compactflash card with a Syba CF-to-IDE adapter to replace the failed system disk of an Apple iBook. This puts a much higher random IO workload on this card than it is ever likely to experience when used as a camera. The card has been running like a champ. The only quirk of the combination (possibly a problem with the cheap adapter) is that the system cannot resume from sleep.

One thing to bear in mind about speed: This CF card is optimized for the big sequential IO loads of a digital camera. The random write speed, even with IO sizes of 512k, is surprisingly bad. I suspect that the buffering in the card does not have any random IO intelligence and stalls whenever a non-sequential write arrives. Read access (random and sequential) is great. This is a fair tradeoff since the adapter+CF combination was a fraction of the price of an SSD.

5 Stars Good Value For The Size
I have been using this card for awhile and it is a good bargain for the price and size – you can shoot alot on one card even with larger megapixel cameras. On my 5D Mark II it is good for about 250 RAW+JPEG and I am able to get a good round of continuous shooting, depending on what I am shooting I can easily get 8-10 shots before having to wait for the card, which is fine for many things.

On the HD video side of things, it also is fine for shooting clips of 15-30 seconds with no problem (these are the lengths I usually shoot) with minor “catching up.” In other words there will be some clearing so if you are shooting from clip to clip in high action situations it may be a bit slow.

In other words for general shooting where you would like to have larger capacity, it is fine.

It is not a speed demon compared to some other cards and if you are shooting in situations where you really need higher speeds, it may fall short in that department. But overall having one of these in your bag is a good deal, especially when doing things like shotting landscapes, portraits and other things where shooting a series of shots and waiting a few seconds for things to clear are not going to make or break what you are trying to do.

2 Stars Not so affordable
When I decided to buy a Kingston 8GB I was not sure because of the cheap price.

There were actually other more expensive 4GB alternatives. Well, I guess I should have taken one of those

because this one sometimes loose pictures. I use to shot in raw format with Canon EOS 350D and with this

card I cannot be sure 100% of don’t finding any “surprise” once I get back home, like an unreadable file or a damaged file.

At the end I’m going to use it, but when I need affordability, I better use a Sandisk even if is a 1GB one.

1 Star Errors with every use and erased pictures
I just got this card recently and it has given me CF errors every time I have used it. It will let you take varying amounts of pictures before giving an error and erasing all the pictures on the card. A worthless piece of junk. I should have listened to the negative reviews. I’m sticking with SanDisk from here on out.

5 Stars Kingston compact flash memory
I bought this memory card for my Nikon D90 to increase picture storage for trips, vacations etc. I have no problems with it, considering negative reviews I read before buying it which concerned its performance under continuous storage and retrieval sequences. It is able to maintain the rated 4 shots per second for as long as I have wanted to take, with acceptable delay in presentation to the monitor. This is comparable to the SD card which came with the camera. I have not tried filling the card up to see if this performance is maintained for the full capacity of the card, as I normally transfer the pictures to my computer daily.

To summarize, I bought this card for the convenience of large storage, and it has lived up to my expectations.

2 Stars samsung product does not work per spec
I recently purchased a samsung spf-87h digital photo frame. I wanted to use the frame as a mini monitor. setup the frame for photos which worked fine. I have windows vista could not find frame manager software which is required. I thought of returning it but threw all packaging away. Hope this may help someone else.

I was looking for good looking frame to match with my table (Black), then I had got this one. It really got nice look and good features. Pros are 1GB internal Memory, Good Looks, Almost all type of Media support, can be used as another monitor.

Cons are No Remote control, Control buttons are quite hard and its quite delicate.

5 Stars A Stellar Digital Frame
I tried to do a lot of research before buying my first digital picture frame and it all pointed to this Samsung model. Friends told me I could get a similar frame for half the price but the facts didin’t bear it out.

The lines of this frame are crisp and stylish, great for any decor. I have a traditional house heavy on the antiques and it fits in as well as it would in a modernist minimalist setting.

The picture quality and the apect ratio are awesome, much better than on most of the frames I looked at. It’s easy to set up and use; though I do have to tell you it comes with only a quick guide; if you want the in depth instructions you have to download the guide from Samsung.

It’s great in that it has a built in memory as well as accepting a card and a memory stick. It has lots of display options and a shuffle capability that make every time you turn it on a different experience. Very pleased, in fact am going to buy another and most of my friends who have seen it are now going to ‘upgrade’ from their other frames!

My interest in this picture frame was in it’s ability to function as a second computer monitor. I have a small computer that I carry with me on my motorcycle. I wanted the second monitor to facilitate my trading software when I’m on the road. This screen functions well, but I don’t like the connecting cord,that has two different length pigtails. That’s really messy. The draws backs are the upgrade for the firm ware, I can’t get it to download with out corruption. You also have to down load the software from the samsung web site to install the controlling software to use this as a second computer monitor. This is almost a great idea. I was looking for a combination TV/DVD/Picture frame/monitor in the 10 inch range. I know that is asking quite a bit, but as long as I’m in the world of fantasy why not express my true desires for a multi-use picture frame.

There is nothing wrong with this product. It functions as advertised. I wish I’d purchased the SPF-105P, this might have fit my needs a little better.

3 Stars Good for outdoors… I’ts an OK camera not an amazing one
I bought the New A 1100 IS because for being stupid I just gave away my A740 which I loved… I needed to have something portable and easy to carry around. So I decided I wanted to try this little one and take it with me to Italy because I didn’t want to walk around with the big SLR.

So I have to say is not bad if the weather conditions help with ntural light. On cloudy days the image quality is not the best, but in sunny days the pictures come out beautifully. The camera can be really slow in low light conditions and even that it has an image stabilization if you move a bit the image comes out blurry. It has no super macro setting like the A 470, but the macro setting is not bad. This camera eats the batteries really fast, it works better with rechargeable batteries, Other wise be ready to change batteries every 30 minutes. The indoors setting works ok. The view finder is good to have but if you use lots of zoom the picture comes out diferently than what you see through the view finder, so be careful with that.. I would say this is an OK camera, not an amazing camera.

In general I was more happy with my A 470 I shoulded not give it away!!!

Gave this to my wife earlier this year. She is using it constantly and it takes great pictures.

Pro’s: Takes great pictures, even in low light. Super detail.

Con’s: It takes about a second for the focus to settle, If you just mash the button, you get and out of focus picture.

I’d still rate it as an excellent camera since most of the competition also has this usability flaw.

Good Camera for the money. Pictures OK, a little on the flat side, could be a little more vivid, more contrast. Dose pretty good with kids (fewer blurred shots). Battery life seems a little short (Uses cheap AA Rechargeable though). Fits in your pocket!

5 Stars Excellent buy – You cannot go wrong with it.
I recently got this camera to gift it to my sister. While I got a chance to play with it I could not stop short of exclaiming Wow’s.

I regularly use my DSLR, but the ease-of-use provided by this camera has got me into thinking of buying one for myself.

Though Canon stopped providing Manual exposure controls Av, Tv, M, … on their lower-end point-and-shoots the pictures still come out pretty good.

There is a Program Exposure feature which can be played with to your liking.

The optical IS is a boon and I have come to appreciate its value since I have wasted quite a lot of photos on my DSLR as I cannot hold the camera still enough while the shutter has been opened.

Hopefully Canon starts making the A590IS series which now sell for more than $200. In the meantime Canon A1100IS is your answer to better photos.
