Nikon EN EL9 Rechargeable Li ion Battery for Nikon D40 and D40x Digital SLR Cameras

The EN-EL9 is a rechargeable Li-ion battery for use exclusively with Nikon digital cameras. It can be recharged repeatedly using the MH-23 Quick Charger.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Made in china
My Nikon Lithium Ion EN-EL9 7.4V came with camera and

lasted only two years. It held a charge well. No complaints

there. But this last time I did not use the camera for 3

months, came back and battery is dead. Perhaps the charger

is to blame, can’t say. But I had a similar thing with a non-USA

hard drive for my 3 year old Mac laptop. The hard drive malfunctioned

and the repair man said even new ones don’t work, now that they

are not made in USA. My freezer had a fan failure, but Frigidaire

sent me a new fan even though the system was out of warrenty.

The fan LOOKED the same, but the dye casting was poor on the

screw threads…there was no way to attach it with same screws.

So quality control on this battery and other Made in China items

is questionable. While I am at it: when my barn burned down the

fire department told me a lot of fires have been starting with

Chinese lamps. I had a new brooder lamp I hung the night

before the fire. Then my neighbor’s house burned down, the

result of a new night light. She is a politician and was moved

to Washington D.C. before I got to ask her if the night light

was Chinese.

5 Stars Great battery!
Great battery…charges quickly and lasts for an extremely long time even when used for lengthy playback and editing. Also works for the D60 which is the camera I own.

3 Stars MRS
Ok I couldn’t find a way to contact you so…

I think giving a shipping range of July 6 to July 21 is lame. It was be nice if you could get it to me before July 7 cuz thats when I need it. If not I’ll cancel my order.

Thanks

Mary

5 Stars Digital camera battery
What can I say its a battery whose main job is to store power to run my device. I charged it up and it held the charge so it seems to work great.

Thank you

5 Stars Works as expected.
I bought this as a spare battery for my Nikon D60, as it is always recommended to have a spare. The battery worked well as expected. If yo are an amateur, or a serious photographer, a spare or two is always a must. I would recommend this product.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Needed battery
This battery is being used as an extra battery for my Nikon DSLR. It has worked in the way I need: power. I just went with the name brand because of the fear factor of third-party horror stories.

1 Star Sudden Death – No Warranty
I have had two of these go from working to DOA and the charger not even recognize there is a battery in it. I called Nikon and was told by a very rude customer service person that Nikon offers no warranty at all on their batteries. One of these batteries had been charged three times and the other 10 times at most. Don’t waste your money on the Nikon brand. I have had good luck with the CTA brand replacement and it costs 20% of what the Nikon brand does.

5 Stars Would buy again
Not sure how much you can say here… It’s a Nikon battery. I’ve bought off-brand batteries before and had bad luck. So, I won’t do that again. Bought this one as a backup for my D5000. A backup battery, in my mind, is a must have item. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been taking photos and found the battery to be running low. With a backup, you just swap batteries and keep shooting. Got it fast, in good condition, free shipping and at a much better price than in store.

5 Stars Great battery, great price
Just purchased my DSLR Nikon D5000; wanted a backup battery. The store offered them from $65-$90, this was a bargain at under $60. Glad to have found it.

5 Stars No Regrets
I knew I was going to need more than one battery to feed the camera when I go shooting. I was tired of tracking battery life and having to swap batteries mid-session. I was uncomfortable about the possibility of running both batteries down and not having an alternative.

The Battery Grip solves all that. It holds two batteries and comes with an insert that holds AA Batteries (I bought some lithium ones) so you can shoot at least twice as long before needing to recharge, AND you can use readily available AA Batteries if you hit the wall and need to keep shooting.

The extra features of this grip include the second set of controls on the side so that when the camera is in vertical you can still shoot with all your controls handy – and no contortion. Second, the base cover for the battery compartment on the camera stows inside the Battery Grip where you pretty much can’t lose it and where it is readily available if you need to swap off the grip and go back to using the battery inside the camera (some lenses on a tripod won’t tolerate the Battery Grip because of fit issues with the tripod).

Does this add to the size of the camera. DOH! For me that’s not an issue. I have really big hands and it actually helps me better manage the camera. But if you’re trying to travel light, you will find that from a size point of view, it’s a trade-off. For me, there is no doubt this was the way to go. Now when I climb Mt Fuji…we’ll see… But I will still have extra batteries! ;-)

4 Stars A must have.
An absolute must have accessory especially when using the 70-200mm 2.8/f IS USM or larger lenses. The extra weight helps balance the larger lenses and the extra controls make multiple portrait shots more comfortable. Having the option to use AA batteries although not preferred is nice as well.

4 Stars Great addition to battery life and addition camera control
Battery life excellent, additional grip space a plus and having the additional controls on the grip makes vertical shooting easier. The only con I can see is the additional weight it adds to the camera but the pros outweigh that issue. I would recommend to those needing extended shooting battery capacity

5 Stars Solid Gear
I can’t see how I would shoot without this. I wouldn’t go cheap and get the knockoff. Get the real Canon part and feel better about yourself :)

I love the battery grip. Just buy it!

4 Stars Expensive but necessary…
i bought this when there weren’t any knockoff battery grips. if i buy another 5d II in the future, i’m probably getting a plastic knockoff grip for my 2nd camera.

the way i shoot, i HAVE to have a battery grip. i don’t mind turning my wrist, but the time it saves me later straightening out all of my pictures makes it well worth it. plus, who can’t use the extra battery life?

other than that, everything works exactly how it’s supposed to. the grip matches up perfectly with the 5d mk II’s body and stays tight/looks great. every once in a while i’ll set it on my lap and accidentally take a few pictures or accidentally hit the shutter button while reviewing pictures…but all user error.

i rated this a 4 because it’s a little expensive. granted, i paid $300 for mine and now you can get them almost 20% cheaper than that. if you can’t afford it or don’t want to…read reviews, you’ll see there are some very good 3rd party plastic grips for the 5d II and decide for yourself if it’s worth the extra $160 or not.

5 Stars Free
I received this free with a gift I bought. The person already had a case but I like this one for myself. It has padding to protect my camera and a side pocket that I will use for my memory card. My other case didn’t have a separate pocket, and was thin with no padding for protection. So I got a free gift for myself along with a great deal on a camera for a family member. I am a pleased customer!!

5 Stars Nice Inexpensive Case
This is a nice small camera case that came with Amazon’s Fuji FinePix J28 camera package deal over Thanksgiving. The case actually looks darker blue than what is pictured on Amazon, as one previous reviewer indicated. The construction and interior padding is good. Everyone else has mentioned all of the good points. Not much more to add other than it is a smaller type camera case. Keep in mind that the dimensions are 2.8 x 1.2 x 3.8 inches when sizing it for your camera. The additional zippered pocket is good for only a couple of memory chips or a flat lithium type battery.

3 Stars Very tiny, even for small cameras.
This case is nice in appearance, but it is a tight fit with my Fuji Finepix camera….which is a small camera. Most modern digital cameras are about the size of my Finepix, so I imagine a tight fit in general. The velcro flap closure only partly comes together as the camera sticks out slightly from the top. There is one very small pocket on this that might fit an extra battery or memory card. The case will serve its purpose however.

5 Stars Nice workmanship/material
This is a very nice generic camera case for the smaller point and shoot cameras. It’s pretty light and compact. Decent padding on all four sides. The workmanship is excellent – stitches are straight without loose threads. This is a good looking camera case. It comes with a detachable shoulder strap and a built in belt strap. The cover closes with a velcro square. There is a also a small zipper pocket that lets you store an small extra battery and/or SD card (that’s probably about it). Great case to go with my new little P&S camera (Fuji J28). (Note: The blue color is kinda darker blue than you would think from the Amazon picture.) (Two pics posted.)

5 Stars A great tiny case for your camera
Since I’ve personally drifted into the world of digital SLRs, I’ve forgotten what it’s like to review compact point/shoot cameras. And in that time, I’ve forgotten how good Case Logic products are. Sure, they lack the beauty of some cases, but they just work and work well.

I bought this as part of a bundle to house a Fuji Finepix J28 as a gift for a relative, and it fits in just fine. The front zipper can hold an extra SD card or an extra battery for the camera if you don’t mind a tight squeeze.

Overall, it’s a $10 bag that works very well without the fanfare of more expensive cases.
